Benefits

Mechanic - The Sphinx pose allow a moderate compression of the lower spine, and a too mild to mention compression on the Rectus Abdominis.
Energetic - Targets mainly the Urinary Bladder channel relating to the Water element especially the following points UB 22 to 25.
Mind/Emotions - Energizing and restoring.

Contraindications

Be mindful of your lower back if there is a back problem or injury.

Help & Props

Resting the elbows on the top of a bolster will give you more stimulation while allowing to rest.

Timing

Three to five minutes 

Releasing the pose

Slowly slide your elbows to the side and rest in prone position.
