This workshop is the foundation of this approach. We are developing a functional approach and let go of the aesthetic of the pose, this is function over form. Which will allow the practitioner to explore his range of movement to find is unique adjustment of the pose.
We will explore the different variations of the main Yin asanas, according to the skeletal variations of the body.

Workshop Content:

Saturday 07/12/2019

Morning Session

Theory – introduction to the 9 levels of functional description, the methodology of practice and teaching cultivation a keen sense of introspection for the 3 bodies.

Practice – Yin Yoga for the spine: This sequence will target the spinal column in the 6 directions to decompress and re-inflate the inter-vertebral disc, releasing tension, moving stagnation in the deep tissues around the lower spine.

Afternoon Session

Theory – Exploring the 3 main tissues related to Yoga practice using a Taoist analysis, we only need to relate to the Muscles / Connective Tissues / Bones to expose the 2 restrictions of movement in the body and why do we need to address those tissues differently.

Practice – Yin Yoga for the hips: This sequence is focusing around the pelvis, using deep lunges and others Yin poses to feel the compression points in the hips sockets, as well as exploring the range of motion of the legs.

Sunday 08/12/2019

Morning Session

Theory – Talking about compression in the body, using a slide show to observe bones and skeletal variation of the Pelvis, Femur, Tibia, Lumbar, and Scapula. Why everyone is unique the way they practice Yoga.

Practice - Double Effect: This sequence will combine 2 Yin Yoga poses together working asymmetrically on the body using antagonist group muscles.

Afternoon Session

Theory – A group exploration of the 8 major points of compression in the body, appreciating the skeletal variations on each other.

Practice - All around, This practice will thoroughly address all the main group muscles of the body including leg and torso.
